The Belgian future, today
A show dedicated to the 'new generation' would not be complete without the future showpiece of the Belgian Air Force. The air force is always looking for new qualified people. As an inclusive employer, the Air Force values equal opportunities, and the following demonstration gives this point some extra shine.
Kleine-Brogel and Florennes will be home to 36 Belgian Lockheed-Martin F-35 Lightning II from 2025. This so-called 5th generation fighter plane combines highly advanced avionics, enormous power, terrific maneuverability and stealth characteristics, making the aircraft much harder to detect in the air, thereby increasing its chances of survival during operations. Thanks to its advanced sensors, it can easily perform both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
During the Belgian Air Force Days, the US Air Force will amaze you with their presentation of the F-35A Lightning II demonstration team. This magnificent performance will be flown by Major Kristin "Beo" Wolfe of the 388 Fighter Wing stationed at Hill, Utah. She is an experienced fighter pilot, first on F-22 and now on F-35, which is also the most modern fighter in the US Air Force fleet. Her first European appearance in Belgium in 2022 was an outstanding success and she will be delighted to once again show the public what the F-35 is capable of, and inspire young people on the ground to pursue a career in the Air Force.
We would also like to point out here that the Belgian Air Force is cooperating intensively with both the American and other NATO air forces for advanced pilot training in Sheppard, Texas, in the United States.
